Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

Coaching is a partnership that helps you gain clarity and insight, build skills to navigate change and find tangible next steps toward your goals. You guide the agenda and pace to fit your goals.

It’s different than mentoring in that a coach does not provide answers. My role as a coach is to guide and challenge you in discovering your own answers.

Coaching is also different than therapy. Although they both involve self-reflection, coaching is focused on your present situation and moving forward, vs. looking back into your past.

What does a coaching engagement look like?

The structure of a coaching engagement will depend on your goals. In the initial free consultation, we will discuss your potential goals for the engagement and assess if coaching is a good fit. If you decide to move forward, we will create a plan that works for your needs.

From my experience with clients, coaching engagements of at least 3-6 months are most impactful in supporting meaningful change and progress toward goals.

What happens in a coaching session?

A coaching session is typically an hour, and is focused and intentional time that we spend together on the agenda that you bring. Coaching follows the “you get what you put in” model – I will ask that you show up prepared and ready to engage to get the best outcomes.

A typical session starts with designing the specific agenda for that session. From there, my job as coach is to guide and facilitate your insight and discovery via active listening, inquiry and questions to achieve your session goals and make progress toward your larger engagment goals. We may also design follow-up actions for in-between sessions.

Who is a good fit for coaching?

Coaching works best for people who are ready to change, open to reflection and willing to take actions to experiment. If you are ready to be curious and explore your potential, coaching can be pivotal in making progress toward your goals.
